Talks

Today we explore the Past, Present and Future of Bitcoin: Stefan Landrock tells the story of Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoins inventor. Then, Ekhard Seeßelberg presents our favourite Bitcoin apps, apps that can be used today and that are representative of the unique capabilities and features of Bitcoin. With these fundamentals set in stone, Lizette Louw takes us on a trip into the future where Bitcoin, like the Gutenberg Press, has challenged the monopolies of the digital economy so ‘consumers’ can participate as the creators of their own destiny.

Past - Who is Satoshi Nakamoto?

Stefan Landrock

Almost 15 years ago, an anonymous inventor attempted to create a new digital money system. After some teething problems, Bitcoin quickly gained a worldwide following. Over time, countless copies and variations spawned from the invention, evolving into a trillion-dollar industry to create the crypto world we know today.

Despite Bitcoin’s fanfare, many people don’t seem to know much about its inventor.

In this talk, Landrock uncovers the gnarled roots of Bitcoin, the vision and character of its founder, and his failure to explain his invention to the world despite tireless attempts since its inception in 2008.

Present - The best apps built on Bitcoin

Ekhard Seeßelberg

Bitcoin has the ability to send and receive payments for fractions of a cent, typically less than a few hundredths of a cent. In this Seeßelberg, presents his favourite apps employing these micropayments to employ entirely new business models and end-user experiences.

Future - Bitcoin as the Gutenberg Project of the Digital Economy

Lizette Louw

For thousands of years, the Church had a monopoly on truth, literacy and creativity in the West.

Gutenberg’s printing press gave individuals the freedom to publish their own take on the truth, write non-religious works resulting in greater literacy than ever before to bring about an Enlightenment after the Dark Ages.

In Bitcoin the world gains an alternative to the monopolised digital economy. With Bitcoin, we can break away from a scenario where a handful of companies have a monopoly on storing and processing the world’s content, to an economy where everyone can plug into a public data storage and processing network on a pay-per-use basis, to own and monetise their creative work.

Bitcoin offers an alternative to the monopolised digital economy. But, to invent the future, you must understand the past.

From 12-15 September B2029 and Bitcoin Association for BSV will represent BitcoinSV as part of the Berlin Blockchain Week.

We have invited visionaries to share their Vision of a Web3 Internet built on Bitcoin.

Feel free to join us for these talks, sessions and hangouts to meet open and like-minded people who build on and support the original version of Bitcoin.
